Collection: Women's Lengha Collection
In the early months of 2017, our co-founder, Pooja Changani-Nanwani was struggling to find an Indian outfit, which cultivated a sense of simplicity, yet elegance and had somewhat a justifiable pricing for her Brother’s wedding in Udaipur. Even after having visited a number of designer and small boutique stores for two weeks in Mumbai, she found it difficult to find something that was aligned with her needs and employed sustainable practices. She then decided to visit local fabric markets and provide illustrations to tailors to try and materialize what she had in mind myself.
This is when she created her very first two outfits:
- Mehndi Outfit (Left Hand Side) - this utilizes a combination of pastel fabric shades and some machine embroidery for the blouse's borders.
- Sangeet Outfit (Right Hand Side) - this carries a unique blend of hand & machine embroidery for the lengha and the blouse.
Creating these two pieces was our founder's first step towards re-discovering her passion and childhood dream. As a result, she continued sketching and a few months later, she was approached by a friend to make a few outfits for herself and her boyfriend for an Indian wedding in Mauritius and Changani Couture was born!
As often said, sometimes all you require to do is put the first foot forward and the universe does the rest.
